In this post, I have written about 2 Slokas from the sacred Vishnu Sahasranamam Stotram, which can be chanted like Mantras to maintain good health and recovery from diseases and for emerging unscathed from dangers, accidents, calamities and threats from enemies and rivals.
The Vishnu Sahasranamam Stotram, is one of the most sacred and revered of the Hindu Devotional Prayers. This sacred prayer is a dialogue between two of the most important characters of the Mahabharata Bhishma and Yudhisthira. which comprises of 142 Slokas or Verses and is contained in the Chapter Number 149 of the Mahabharata.
Bhishma, lying on the tells Yudhishtira about the importance and significance of the Vishnu Sahasranamam Stotram and that it is the ultimate form of worship for ridding oneself of all sorrows and be one with the only truth and the real purpose of life.
Chanting the Vishnu Sahasranamam Stotram is considered to be a most effective and beneficial religious practice among Devote Hindu for the fulfillment of all desires and the resolution of all obstacles.
However, many layperson do not have sufficient time for worship, hence this shortened from of utilizing the immense powers of the Vishnu Sahasranamam Stotram can be most useful for such persons.
The Slokas, which comprise of some of the names of Lord Vishnu can be chanted daily for 1 Mala, like Mantras. The chanter can use a Rudraksha Japa Mala or any other preferred counting rosary.
How to recite the Vishnu Sahasranamam Stotram:
Most persons recite the Vishnu Sahasranamavali, in their homes by sitting in front of an idol or photograph of Vishnu or any of his Avatars, like Shri Rama, Shri Krishna, Narasimha and Parshurama and offering a Tulsi Leaf, in front of the Idol or image after the chanting of each name. If Tulsi leaves are unavailable, then, any easily available flower is used.
Other, advanced Sadhaks used certain complicated and difficult for reciting the Vishnu Sahasranamam Stotram, including some Yogic Poses and Specific Methods of Pranayama.
However, I have not recommended these method for these particular Vishnu Sahasranamam Stotram Mantras because each Sloka contains more than one names of Lord Vishnu.
Meanings of the Names of Lord Vishnu:
Each of the 1000 Names of Lord Vishnu have more than one or multiple meaning, including deeper and deeper meanings.
