Mantra While Offering Flowers to God
The Mantra, which, I have given in today’s post is the special Mantra, which is chanted while offering flowers to God. The primary function of this Mantra is to purify the flowers of any negative, dull or malefic energies or vibrations, in the Hindi language this is call Pushpa-Shuddhi.
There are some slight variations of Mantra and all of the ones, which, I have seen are correct.
Some Hindu religious texts have given a lots of recommendations on how to offer flowers to a deity. There are 4 main rules/recommendations, which are prescribed, which in my opinion could cause some confusion to a lay-person or someone who is not well-versed with Hindu religions rites and rituals. You, can easily ignore them, if you find them to be meaningless or useless, I have an open mind on this subject.
1] While offering flowers to God, do not touch the flower with the finger next to the thumb [Tarjani Ungli].
2] Pick up the flowers with the thumb and the middle finger[Madhyama Ungli].
3] The Tarjani Ungli is considered to be inauspicious for all rituals. Even while applying Tilak to a deity, this finger should not the Tilak Paste.
4] Gods should never be worshiped with the Buds[Phoolon Ki Kaliyan] of flowers except the Lotus Flower[Kamal Ka Phool].
