Placing the Bansuri in Feng Shui and Vastu Shastra
Bamboo hold a special place in Feng Shui as it is considered to be an auspicious good-luck symbol for matters related to money, wealth, health, good news and circulation of positive and harmonious vibration inside a house. In these times it is not possible for most people to have a bamboo plant in their homes, hence a Flute made from Bamboo is considered to be an equally powerful Feng Shui charm, which if used effectively is said to remove Vastu Dosha from a house or any other premises.
Most devote Hindus will certainly know about the importance of the Bansuri or Flute in Hindu religion because of it association with Shri Krishna, who is portrayed playing the flute in most paintings and idols. Krishna played the flute Murlidhar or the “Holder of the Flute” is one of the numerous names of Shri Krishna. The Divine Melody of Shri Krishna emitting from the Bansuri was said to purify souls of negative energies.
Bamboo Flutes can be placed in those rooms of the house in which you feel most uncomfortable, uneasy/uncertain/indecisive or have a feeling of energy being drained when you are in these rooms areas.
There are numerous ways prescribed for the placement of the flute in the house. Some of these placements include placing the Bansuri on the door or walls of the rooms. Some practitioners of Vastu Shastra recommend placing the Bansuri above or in the vicinity of the area where his head rests while sleeping. This recommendation is also applicable for those people who are going through a rough phase in their domestic lives or those whose marriages are on the brink of collapsing or those people who are depressed and under chronic mental tension. Sometimes the Bansuri is placed below the bed, in the area where the head rests while sleeping.
Placing the Bansuri under the Beam is said to negate the ill effect of the area, which falls under the Beam. The are under the Beam is said to be inauspicious as per Vastu Shastra, which advises that one should not sleep, sit or stand under a Beam for a long period of time. A Common and popular method of rectifying this Vastu Shastra defect is to position two flutes [ wrapped in red ribbons] in a V Shape [ with their mouthpieces placing downwards] directly under the Beam. In most other cases the mouth is positioned towards the top in order make the positive energy mushroom all over the area.
Other than these positions the flutes can be placed in almost any place to attract positive energy into that place, like the cash cupboard, area of the money box, the bedroom or any other part of the house.
There is no need to energize the Bansuri with an Mantra/Stotra/Prarthana, however it is advisable to keep it clean and dust free. The spiritually inclined person can place the Bansuri in or on the door of his Puja-Place or Meditation Room in order to attract peaceful and harmonious vibrations in these areas.
