Three Paths of Tantra Mantra Sadhana
IndiianTantra Shastra has given three basic Margs or Paths for practising Mantra Sadhana and gaining Siddhi over it. The first two are diverse from each other; whereas the third Path is a Mixed or Middle Path; taking some benefits from the other two. All Mantra, Tantra and Yantra Sadhanas are broadly divided into these three Margs. The Sadhak on the Path of Discovery has to be clear in his mind, which one he wishes to pursue.
Dakshin Marg – This includes Sadhanas which are pure in nature. The Sadhak tries to invoke those Deities which are Satvik in nature; like Ganesha, Dattatreya or Laxmi. He chants Satvik Mantras and uses Satvik ingredients for the Tantra Sadhana. This Marg symbolizes truth and purity.
Vaam Marg – This is the Path involving fearsome practices. The Sadhak worship Deities whose basic nature is Aghori and Tansik; like Bhairav - Bhairavi. The Sadhak uses and consumes the five basic Tamsik ingredients – Flesh, Fish, Wine, Sex and Roasted Food Grains. This Marg is mostly secretive in nature and it can be Mastered more quickly than the other two Margs.
Mishra Marg – This is the Mixed or Middle Path; not to be confused with the Indian surname Mishra. In this Marg the Sadhak does not actually consume the five Tamsik objects; but makes use of them in the Tantra – Mantra Sadhana.
These three Margs have evolved and originated from the three Hindu Forces of Nature – the Creative, the Protective and the Destructive; symbolized by the three main Gods of Hinduism – Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. They also find representation in the three Gunas – the Satvik, Rajsik and the Tamsik.

Neel Sir,
ReplyDeleteWhich path does Yashini sadhana and Lord Kamdev belong to? The Vaam? Please kindly reply, Sir.
Yakshini Sadhanas are Tamsik and Kamdev Sadhana can either be Tamsik or Mixed, depending upon how you perform the Mantra Sadhana.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Lord Shiva and Devi Mohini? Which one do they belong to?
DeleteHinduism does not believe in absolute good or absolute bad. It is the kind of Sadhana which you perform which is good or bad.
DeleteThe Paths given above will tell you how to classify any Sadhana.
Dear Neel Sir,
ReplyDeleteI've heard that only reciting mantras by reading from some book or other source can't get you mastery over it & you need a guru, who provides you this mantra as a gurumantra then only the sahna can be completed & one gets mastery over mantra. I just wanted to ask you, Is that true? And if not, what is the right procedure to start a sadhna to get mastery over some mantra? Kindly reply me as soon as possible. I'll be highly grateful to you.
I have no guru :(
Deletebut I am using many mantras from this site and they works for me... by the way generally i m using those mantras which does not need mastery bcoz of lack of time.
According to the nilatantra mantra written in the book does not work.It only work when guru will give the mantra in your right ear 3 times
DeleteHi Sir,
ReplyDeleteI want to know if can tell me , mantra or some tantric solution , so can protect myself against planetary negative effects and enjoy only the possitive effect in my life.
Thanks for your help
Use planetary friendly gem stones, Like Yellow topaz for Sagittarius and Pisces.
DeleteBut one should be aware of its sign of negativity, many stones found scratched, having marks etc, these types of gems only brings I'll effects toward user. So its better to consult a gem expert or astrologer before buying gems.
