Ring World - Part 2
Since a ring world is a real doable possibility, here are some more details. Each could initially be assembled as a full ring, but starting with only a few completely filled partial sections around the ring. (It would take up to 67s to communicate with others if far from you across a 10,000,000km radius ring world.)
There would be so many able to live here that you couldn't form major friendships all around throughout the ring world . Already on Earth most all your major friendships, (likely under a dozen), are within distances you can reach in at most a few hours, and usually in under an hour. So a ring world might effectively eventually become like a million hugely populated cities, likely separated surrounded by much bigger farms sections to let those in each huge city section conveniently live closer together, thus easier to visit friends any day.
There could easily also be many sections for preserving many home planet varied life forms. To do so, some enclosed air sealed 115km radius cylinders could contain such life forms, spun properly to give the source planet's simulated gravity, their spin axes being fixed at the center line around within the ring world. They must be air sealed since their spins would mean air pressure up at such cylinder centers would have to be secured much below normal planet (& cylinder) surface breathable air pressure.
These could also include cylinder seas with artificial islands and many sea and island life forms. People might like to sometimes go visit or have special gatherings in such special planet life preserving cylinder habitats between their huge cities. 20km extra radius of the ring's cross section outer circle would allow cables slanted under each cylinder to join and hold in the ring world's outer atmosphere containing shell there. Also the 20km would allow ring world transportation between both sides of the cylinder planet life refuge, and space for maybe normal farms and manufacturing suspended cylinders.
So we shouldn't insultingly scorn the littlest stars. They could keep life nicely surviving, life which had originated from planets around bigger stars, which like Sol would expand bigger inevitably scorching all their life extinct on their planets.
