Shri.Ganesh Abhang

This is a Abhang sung in praise of the Hindu God of all beginnings Shri.Ganesh. Abhangs are devotional Prarthanas or prayers which are composed in a poetic form. The Abhangs are mostly in the Marathi language which was spoken by the masses in the middle ages. They are an integral part and parcel of worship in the Varkari sampradaya in Maharashtra.

These Abhangs were composed by enlightened saints like Tukaram and there is normally a deep meaning attached to them. They were first recited by these saints at public platforms to enlighten the masses.

Dharoniya farash kari l Bhaktajananchi vidhne vaari ll
Esa gajanan maharaja l Tyache charni laho majha ll
Shendur shami bahu priya jyaala l Tura durvancha shobhla ll
Undir ase jayache vaahan l Matha jadit mugut purna ll
Nag yashopavit rulle l Shubhra vastra shobhit saajire ll
Bhavmodak harabhari l Tuka bhave pooja kari ll 1 ll

धरोनियां फरश करीं l भक्ताजनांची विध्नें वारी ll
ऐसा गजानन महाराजा l त्याचे चरणीं लाहो माझा ll
शेंदुर शमी बहु प्रिय ज्याला l तुरा दुर्वांचा शोभला ll
उंदीर असे जयाचे वाहन l माथां जडित मुगुट पूर्ण ll
नाग यशोपवित रुळे l शुभ्र वस्त्र शोभित साजिरें ll
भावमोदक हराभरी l तुका भावें पूजा करी ll १ ll
