Vaman Dev Aarti - English - Hindi

Vaman Deva is the fifth of the Dash Avatars or the ten manifestations of Vishnu, the Protector. Vishnu manifested as Vamana taking the form of a dwarf Brahman carrying a wooden umbrella.

The purpose of this manifestation was to destroy the pride of the demon King Bali. Bali who was the grandson of the grandson of Prahlad and the great grandson of Hiranyakasuip and had become so powerful that he had also extended his rule over heaven.

Vishnu as Vamana requested Bali to give him that much land which he could measure in three steps. Bali in spite of the warning given to him by the Guru of the Demons  Sukracharya, asked Vamana to measure the land.

Vamana then started increasing in size and grew so large that he covered the distance between Earth, Heaven and Palatal [Netherworld] in just two steps. As Bali seeing that he could not keep his promise offered his head for Vamana to keep the third step. Pleased with his determination to fulfill his promise, Vishnu made Bali immortal and granted him the boon that his name will be taken forever as an example of how promises are fulfilled.

This is an Aarti recited in praise of Vamana in Hindi which I have translated into English.
