Tulsi Aarti - English - Marathi

Tulsi or the Basil plant is a very auspicious plant in the Hindu religion. The leaves of the Tulsi plant have strong medicinal properties, and hence are commonly used in Ayurvedic preparations. The Tulsi leaves are found to be effective in treatment of ailments such as common colds, headaches, stomach disorders, inflammation, heart disease, treatment of poisoning, and malaria.

The properties of this plant were discovered by the sages and physicians in ancient times; hence they advised that it was advisable for every household to have a Tulsi plant.

The Tulsi leaves are also extensively used in religious rituals and Havans, as they are said to purify the atmosphere.

It is also a common practice to put a couple of leaves of the Tulsi plant on the food which is offered for religious ceremonies.

This is an Aarti recited in praise of the Goddess Tulsi, who is said to reside in the Tulsi plant.

The Tulsi Vivhav or the marriage of Tulsi is a popular ceremony; Tulsi is given away as a bride to Krishna. This marriage of Tulsi with Krishna marks the beginning of the wedding season in the Hindu religion.

Praatkaali tujhe uttam roop l

Darshan zaliya jaail paap l

Pujan keliya prapt vaikunth l

Ne kaale mahima tujhi tu maay shresth ll 1 ll

Jaydev jaydev jaymaay tulsi l

Kaliyugi tarak tu ek hosi ll Dhru.ll

Uttam roop swaroop sundari l

Tujhe angi ved ase pai chari l

Tujhi pooja kariti pushpe narnari l

Tyasi bhakti mukti hoti pai chari ll 2 ll

Thor tujha mahima kirtikamasi l

Radhadamodar asti tujpasi l
