Hinduism on Sexual Satisfaction
Ancient Indian religious texts like the Bhagavad-Gita did not look down upon or oppose and outlaw material pursuits like Sexual activity and satisfaction, the accumulation of wealth or the pursuits of power. These activities were not treated as something unnatural or activities that were opposed to God. This is one of the major differences between Hinduism and most other religions.
Hinduism unlike other religions is not founded by men. It is not a religion, but a way of life. Like a flowing river, the Hindu way of life accumulates everything that is contained in other religion as it flows. The natural human laws do not treat anything as good or bad. What is good or bad is something, which is relative. The laws of good and bad are manmade and not God made.
The human mind is such an instrument, which cannot be confined in manmade boundaries, it cannot be enslaved. If enslaved it mutates and becomes morbid, because its true nature is to expand, and the stoppage of expansion is something, which is unnatural to it. This exactly is what most made religions have succeeded in doing, they have succeeded in confining the human mind in a manmade space of rules and regulations, which is passed off as religion.
Now coming back to Sexual activity and satisfaction and other material pursuits let’s have a look at this verse from one of the holiest and widely read and followed Hindu religious text the Bhagavad-Gita. In this verse Shri Krishna, who is regarded as the eighth Avatar of Vishnu, the Protective force in the Universe, out of the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, the Creator, the Protector and the Destroyer; says-
Dharma-viruddho bhutesu
Kamo smi bharatarsabha
Meaning - I am the Kama in each and every living being, hence I am not opposed to religion.
By I am the Kama in every being Shri Krishna says that Kama or Sexual satisfaction is also the divine or God and hence inseparable from God.
It becomes clear that Kama or sexual satisfaction, or Artha, which is the accumulation of wealth, are part and parcel of the human consciousness, and not some kind of virus, which has attached itself to the human mind. Kama or Sexual satisfaction is something, which is meant to be enjoyed and not treated as an anti social activity. Sexual activity is not taboo in the Hindu way of life, and hence not restricted as in other religions.
At the same time, Hinduism considers certain byproducts of Sexual activity or the accumulation of wealth like greed or delusion as unnatural. These are the viruses, which attach themselves to the human mind. These viruses form a powerful impression on the mind, and the mind has to get rid of these viruses in order to expand and evolve.
One can enjoy Kama or Sexual activity and satisfaction to the fullest possible extent, if one has the cooperation of equally enthusiastic and willing partners. But the use of force or compulsion is considered as an anti social activity, which forms a strong impression on the mind.
Kama or Sexual satisfaction is inseparable from the human consciousness and is a part of it. Hence, the forced restriction of it, as seen in most religion founded by men, leads to the mutation of the mind. Hence, the expansion of the mind, which is natural evolution, stops as it encounters a barrier.

May be true but sex has always been critised in Hindu religion as what I am grown up listeing or reading. Sex is considered to be something of lower nature & hence one should avoid it. Kama has always been critised as "Kama, krodha, mada, matsara" are bad virtues & should be avoided from life. People use to give examples of Yogis like Ramkrishna Paramhansa, Swami Vivekanand etc.. & used to preach that all this world is an illusion (maya) & one should come out of it & try to attain salvation (moksha) by "indriyanigraha"
ReplyDeleteHence I think there are many "Nana-Nani" kind of parks for the aged but nothing of this sort for young people where they can share atleast some time of intimate moments. If a couple is caught kissing/hugging etc in public (ofcourse one shouldn't do it there!) they are immediately caught up by Police for 'behaving unethically' but no one has power enough to even touch these corrupt politicians & similar other persons as their acts might be 'ethical'!!!!
