MEDITATION-A STATE OF MIND
The first is to observe your thoughts, look at them in an unbiased manner and remember not to get involved in analyzing or passing of judgments or arriving at conclusions or setting a target for yourself. I want you to remember YOU WILL FIND GOD WHEN YOU STOP TRYING.
When you are observing your thoughts without bias and in a balanced manner there will come a time when your thoughts will slow down and then you will come in contact with the space between your thoughts, it is this space in which the entire universe exists. It is this space which you call god/bhagwan/or the almighty. The final goal of the mediator is to reach this state of mind and become aware that he/she is in permanent contact with the SPACE.
The second way is to observe your breath like an observer, not to do anything with your breath just observe and to remember what I have told earlier.
Please remember that to achieve this meditative state of mind it is not necessary to have a schedule or to get into a habit or a discipline of some kind. It is not necessary to have fixed postures or a fixed time this can be done at any time of the day or night in any place including the toilet.
Please bear in mind not to get into any kind of habit, but to achieve this state in a natural way which you find most comfortable, you can also effect changes which come most naturally bearing in mind WE LIVE INSIDE THE THING THE THING LIVES INSIDE US.

I think it should be mentioned that the so called I or 'Ego' should be removed completely and realize that the true self is the atman which is in me and also that covers the universe, directly pointing at Brahman.
ReplyDeleteHello Neel sir,
ReplyDeletekindly help clarify this -- "observe your breath like an observer" which I am doing but I read somewhere that Buddha said to focus on tip of nose when observing the breath. when I focus on nose tip, I get a headache, so is the focus on nose tip really important or can I just observe my breath without it. or maybe can you suggest some way to me to focus on nose tip where I won't get the headache
thank you very much
Focusing on the tip of the nose is not mandatory, you can simply focus on the breath without straining yourself so as to avoid any discomfort.
DeleteThe main purpose of this exercise is clear the mind and try to enter the thoughtless state.
